They offer you the opportunity to earn a wage and work full time in your chosen trade area.

Here you will learn from the industry's best, working with teams installing and constructing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 400v to 132kv in a manner that delivers safe, high workmanship quality and fit for purpose networks for the customer.

• work with associated multicores and earth cables
• installation of containment and cabling
• learn to understand and adhere to risk assessments
• use mobile lifting equipment
• gain a spen authorisation and safety passport
• maintain site safety at all times
• pat test
• calibration testing

• read and understand engineering drawings, wiring and circuit diagrams
• inspect and test electrical installations between 240v and 415v
• diagnose and rectify faults on a range of circuits and equipment
• use small hand tools such as and including, screwdrivers, pliers, grips, hammers, saws, etc
• operate electrical 110v and battery powered tools such as sds drills, combi drills, impact drivers, disc grinders etc
• installation of multicore cables on prepared cable trays and in cable troughs within substation compounds, including relay rooms and the glanding & termination of such cables, wiring of electrical relay panels, battery chargers, outdoor plant etc.

you will attend college to complete the level 3 apprenticeship power industry distribution cable jointer. In addition, you will regularly attend in-house training and development as part of the programme.

to be aged 18 or over to work within high voltage power networks

able to safely distinguish colour coded wiring and components

to have a valid uk driving licence
