Security Officer – Festival Place Shopping Centre,
Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services

Pay rate: £13.47 per hour (Salaried £29,603.14 per annum).

Full‑time – 42 hours on average per week.

Shift pattern: 4 on / 4 off days and nights. Shift times 0700‑1900 and 1900‑0700, with paid breaks.

Contract type:
Fixed‑term 3‑month contract.

We are looking for security officers who can deliver outstanding customer service while creating a safe shopping environment, free from crime and the fear of crime for customers and colleagues. Working in a shopping centre environment, no two days are the same.

Festival Place is a 1.1m sq ft shopping centre situated in the centre of Basingstoke, just off the M3, housing over 140 big‑brand stores including Next, Marks & Spencer, Apple, and H&M. It also offers over 20 eateries such as Brew Dog, Côte Brasserie, Las Iguanas, Ask Italian, Pizza Express, Wagamama, Pret, Five Guys, Nando’s and a 10‑screen Vue multiplex cinema.

Festival Place provides a safe shopping experience with visible and covert security measures. More information:

• Deliver industry‑leading customer service
• Deterrence of violence, public order or ASB offences
• Conduct patrols of the shopping centre
• Coordinate between CCTV operators and the duty management team to support the reduction of crime and stock loss for retailers
• Liaise with store management teams and carry out regular "Buddy" store visits to assist with crime‑prevention advice, identification of offenders and crime reporting
• Collaborate with the police and crime partnerships where required to foster a strong working relationship to support crime reduction in the town centre
• Wear a body‑worn camera to support crime reduction and increase colleague and customer safety
• Highlight and address health and safety concerns
• Test life safety systems as required
• Attend fire alarm activations and assist in evacuations in accordance with the centre's emergency plans
