About the jobSupport the Head of Infrastructure & Property by leading the project management and delivery of a wide range of property projects at Stations and Depots. To ensure these are delivered to an appropriate technical standard, safely, efficiently, and to satisfy all statutory, contractual and business requirements.
Your main responsibilities will be:- Communication and co-ordination at all levels within SWR and with third party organisations including Local Authorities, Government Bodies, Network Rail, Contractors and Suppliers.
- Responsible for the line management of the Project Managers.
- Oversee the delivery of SWR project managed property construction portfolio in accordance with specification, budget and timescales.
- Set and maintain the delivery strategy and required outputs for the construction portfolio.
- Work with the I&P Commercial Manager to ensure the appropriate procurement strategies for projects is followed, ensuring full compliance with SWR Financial and Procurement Policies and I&P Department guidelines.
- Develop strong internal and external relationships to ensure that consents and approvals are complied with and obtained wherever appropriate.
- Oversee the management of suppliers to meet the programme requirements.
- Provide senior professional surveying and project management expertise, together with associated technical advice to assist in the development of the SWR building portfolio, and of its staff.
- Lead and inspire the team to maintain full engagement in meeting the business objectives.
- Challenge Project Managers to ensure that they initiate and evaluate innovative ideas and develop reliable solutions within financial constraints and timescales.
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of documented project files for all projects and track progress against planned programmes.
- Prepare and submit periodic and ad hoc reports as required
- Proven senior level of construction experience managing project management staff in an operational environment.
- Strong negotiation skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Should have a practical approach to construction projects and a flexible approach to work.
- High standards of general education and ideally with professional qualifications in a building discipline to minimum HNC level.
- A thorough knowledge of construction Health & Safety legislation in the railway environment, ideally relevant qualifications (NEBOSH, etc)
- Construction design management experience.
- A sound knowledge of construction and its legislative framework and significant experience of construction in the railway technical environment
Basingstoke Campus, more commonly known as the ROC, is a state-of-the-art Operating Centre and training facility located a short walk from Basingstoke station. It is a shared facility with Network Rail and is the hub for all operations across the Wessex region. The office space and technology on site are modern with the added benefit of additional facilities including a gym & canteen.
Workingpattern
You will work an average of 37 hours across 5 days per week, typically office hours.
