EIP Senior Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Care Co-ordinator working within the Early Intervention in Psychosis Team based at Parklands House in Basingstoke. The role will involve working across the Mid and North of Hampshire area. The work is varied and interesting and there is a strong team approach ensuring good support for the successful applicant. The role requires lone working, use of initiative and a commitment to team working and service user empowerment.

There will be an opportunity to develop your skills working in this specialist team and to maximize your knowledge of working with psychosis. The post holder will be from a mental health nursing background. You will need to be able to work flexibly and to demonstrate knowledge of the CPA process, risk assessment, and the recovery model. This post involves weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis as per service user need.

Main

duties of the job
  • To provide evidence-based interventions to people aged between 14 and 65, with early psychosis
  • To undertake initial assessment of those presenting with symptoms of psychosis
  • To undertake assessment of those with suspected psychosis and those identified as displaying an "at risk" mental state
  • To provide specific assessments of symptoms, social functioning, medication side-effects, and family/carer needs
  • To provide care coordination as per the Trust CPA policy to people in the first three years of psychosis
  • To provide specialist psycho-educational/behavioural family interventions to families and clients dealing with early psychosis
  • To offer advice to a range of services within the wider community who may be a first place of contact for a person with emerging mental health problems or their family e.g. schools, colleges, police, etc
  • To monitor young people with "at risk" mental states or support others to monitor if this is more appropriate
  • To promote a recovery ethos
  • To work in a collaborative client-centred manner with both young people and their families/carers
  • To manage caseloads and administration systems
  • To formulate, implement and evaluate clinical programmes
  • To work jointly and collaboratively with other teams to ensure the maximum service flexibility in meeting the persons' needs
