Job Description Group Financial Accountant - Basingstoke and Hybrid working
c £45,000 + benefits
Venture Recruitment Partners are delighted to be partnering with a well-established group of companies to recruit a Group Financial Accountant. This is a pivotal role within the finance function, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, and offering exposure across group financial reporting, statutory accounts, and management accounts.
This opportunity would suit a technically strong, qualified accountant who enjoys working autonomously, values accuracy and attention to detail, and wants to play a key role in supporting strategic decision‑making across a growing group of companies.
The RoleAs Group Financial Accountant, you will manage and consolidate the financial reporting of the group, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and accounting standards (UK GAAP / IFRS).
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist the Group Financial Controller with the consolidation of annual statutory accounts, including intercompany eliminations, adjustments, and supporting schedules
- Ensure accounting policies are applied correctly and in line with UK GAAP, monitoring and implementing changes as required
- Support external audits and respond to audit queries
- Prepare statutory accounts for non-audit trading companies and ensure dormant accounts are filed on time
- Assist in calculations for business combinations and goodwill on acquisitions
- Produce monthly management accounts for the holding companies and support reporting for trading entities
- Maintain up-to-date intercompany schedules and resolve discrepancies
- Support ad-hoc tasks, including system development and process improvements
This role would suit someone who:
- Is a fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Has experience preparing statutory accounts and group consolidations
- Demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude with strong problem-solving skills
- Has excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Is IT literate and confident using accounting systems
Can work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team - Is adaptable and open to change
- Holds a UK driving licence (for occasional travel)
- Competitive salary of c £45,000, depending on experience
- Hybrid working with flexibility (minimum 2 days per week onsite in Basingstoke)
- Exposure to group-level accounting, statutory reporting, and management accounts
