Overview
Premier Work Support are currently recruiting for a permanent Import Co-ordinator to work for their client in Basildon, Essex.
This is an ideal role for someone who has proven experience within a similar Imports role as this position involves end-to-end shipment coordination, customer service, and commercial support, with a strong emphasis on import ocean freight.

Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary daily point of contact for assigned customers.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding rates, transit times, shipment status, documentation, and service options.
- Provide proactive communication, shipment updates, and issue resolution to ensure high service standards.
- Support account management by handling routine customer queries and escalations where required.
- Coordinate end-to-end movement of cargo, including bookings, carrier scheduling, pick-ups and deliveries.
- Track and monitor shipments to ensure timely departure and arrival.
- Manage exceptions, delays, and service failures by identifying and implementing solutions quickly.
- Ensure smooth coordination of import ocean freight shipments (road and multimodal exposure beneficial).
- Prepare and issue accurate freight quotations based on carrier tariffs, internal pricing guidelines, and margin requirements.
- Follow up on quotations to convert opportunities into confirmed bookings.
- Assist the sales team with pricing support, presentations, and customer documentation.
- Maintain pricing files, rate sheets, and carrier contracts.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and client SOPs.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate shipment and commercial documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date records in TMS and CRM systems.
- Experience in freight forwarding
- Commercial awareness with experience preparing and following up on freight quotations
- Strong understanding of import ocean freight processes (export experience advantageous).
- Exposure to air, road, or multimodal freight is beneficial.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm
