About the Role
Syntech Recruitment are working with a long standing client who are seeking an experienced Stores & Logistics Supervisor to oversee and develop the stores and logistics function at their Basildon site. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for ensuring accurate stock control, efficient material flow, and high standards across receiving, storage, kitting, and dispatch operations.
You will lead a small team and play a key role in supporting manufacturing and customer requirements through effective inventory and logistics management.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day stores and logistics operations for the Basildon site
Receive and inspect deliveries, ensuring quantities, revisions, condition, and certification are correct
Maintain accurate stock rotation in line with FIFO principles
Issue materials into manufacturing in line with job cards, ensuring correct revisions and transaction accuracy
Despatch materials to sub-contractors, ensuring all required documentation is included and stock integrity is maintained
Manage the despatch of finished goods to customers, ensuring correct paperwork and carriage methods
Ensure all goods leaving site are packaged appropriately to minimise transit damage
Maintain accurate stock location and storage to reduce risk of damage or loss
Ensure inventory accuracy within the WMS
Manage non-BOM items using min/max levels, KANBAN systems, etc.
Monitor expiry dates, end-of-life items, and excess & obsolete stock risks
Work closely with the Purchasing team to resolve goods-in discrepancies
Carry out weekly cycle counts and support year-end inventory counts
Load and offload goods as required
Undertake any other duties as required to support operations
Skills & Behaviours
Strong working knowledge of WMS principles
Proven ability to lead and motivate a small team
Clear and effective communicator
Able to build strong working relationships with suppliers, internal teams, and customers
Highly organised with excellent time management skills
Skills & Experience
Experience leading a small operational or stores team
Proven background in materials handling and stock control
Experience with goods-in, picking, issuing to work orders, and stock systems
Counterbalance forklift licence
Full manual driving licence
