Overview
Our CTC Cath Lab team has an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our small, friendly and supportive team. This role offers the chance to become an integral member of the service, working under the direct supervision and guidance of qualified nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities- Support planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care by assisting qualified nursing and medical staff, as well as providing support to patients and their families or carers.
- Complete a range of clinical, clerical and domestic duties following the successful completion of a structured programme of formal training and assessment.
- Assist the nursing team in delivering holistic patient care, transport patients to and from wards or other departments as required, prepare sterile trolleys, check/replace/fix medical gas cylinders for use on trolleys (at least twice daily), and return beds/trolleys to their correct location.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and caring environment, provide clerical support as required, assist the nurse in preparing the Cath Lab for the day’s work and between cases, prepare refreshments as directed, ensure patient comfort, direct/escort patients and relatives/carers to other departments and services as needed, and record simple details of care given in line with Trust Policy.
- Circulate and assist the nurse in Cath Lab during procedures and participate in on-call rota for the Cardiac Cath Lab during emergencies.
- You will be expected to participate in the NVQ programme, supporting ongoing development and progression within the role.
