The Gastroenterology department are currently recruiting a talented team of Specialist Doctors to support our busy yet thriving department that provides a wide range of GI investigations and procedures, including upper and lower GI endoscopy, therapeutic ERCP, oesophageal metal stenting, biliary lithotripsy and argon beam therapy.
You will be working alongside the Endoscopy Units seven Consultants which has state of the art JAG accreditation and includes three endoscopy rooms, one with screening facilities, a urea breath testing area, biochemical GI tests and ERCP.
You will be given the opportunity to gain experience in managing GI disorders such as GI bleeds, liver disease and paracentesis, as well as training sessions in the endoscopy unit.
You will be involved with our coeliac disease and inflammatory bowel disease clinics organised by nurse specialists, our weekly multidisciplinary meetings held to review all cases of GI cancer and our regular chronic liver disease and viral hepatitis clinics.
Main duties of the jobYou will become a key component of our multi-disciplinary team, with continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, undertaking ward duties under the direction of senior colleagues including all administrative duties associated with patient care and involved Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) discussion with other colleagues.
You will be expected to provide necessary educational and clinical supervision for junior doctors working in your team and participate in the departmental and trust wide teaching programmes for the relevant junior medical staff and members of the multidisciplinary teams.
You will be expected to be committed to the concept of lifelong learning and produce and maintain a Personal Development Plan in agreement with your Educational Supervisor.

Person Specification Qualifications- Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current license to practise from, the GMC at the time of application.
- Demonstrates awareness of basics of managing patients with gastroenterology / hepatic disease.
- Competence at core completion level in the management of medical emergencies, in patients and out patients
- Evidence of some competencies in Gastroenterology
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCP (UK) Part 2 or EEA eligibility at time of application
- Higher degrees including MSc, PhD, MC (where the research thesis is not part of first medical degree
