Fabrication Designer / CAD Designer

Monday - Friday / 9am-5pm

Salary: £28,000-£36,000 - depending on experience

Based in Basildon, Essex.

The Designer for the fabrication department will produce detailed drawings required for the manufacturing of bespoke items. Working closely with the sales team and factory foreman ensures the high quality of drawings for commercial bespoke hospitality designs.

• Liaise with customers, architects, designers, M&E companies and internal teams to provide effective design and technical service.
• Design, prototype, implement, test and troubleshoot Inventor features according to project definition.
• Produce scaled plans, sections, elevations, schematics and detailed drawings from external and internal sources.
• Produce fabrication designs for factory to create bespoke manufactured items.
• Create 3D visualisations.
• Scan and copy drawings for distribution to designers, clients and contractors.
• Conduct occasional site visits to take dimensions and gain on-site experience.
• Apply knowledge of general architectural building layouts.
• Carry out any other duties appropriate to the position, such as design meetings, chasing suppliers, etc.
• Support quotation preparation in the bespoke estimating package within Sage 200, ensure information accuracy, and compile relevant files for the project coordinator.
• Notify and discuss with the relevant team any errors, discrepancies in information and drawings during the quotation production process.

• Experience with Solid Works, Radan and Inventor.
• Strong CAD design skills.
• Knowledge of general architectural building layouts.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
