Purchasing Assistant

Location: Basildon, Essex

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 (Onsite)

Salary: £23,015.85 per annum

Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

We are working with a well-established UK-based importer and wholesale distributor to find a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join their busy Purchasing team in Basildon.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build or develop a career in purchasing and procurement within a fast-paced, product-driven environment. You will play an important supporting role within the team, helping to ensure orders are managed accurately and efficiently to support the smooth running of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Purchasing team with day-to-day administrative tasks
  • Accurately managing and updating order details across internal systems
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal departments to ensure smooth order processing
  • Monitoring order progress and following up on outstanding deliveries

    Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Assisting with data entry and reporting using Excel and internal systems
  • Contributing to continuous improvements in purchasing processes
What Were Looking For
  • Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, or administrative role is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly organised with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in managing order information
  • Good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
  • Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Computer literate and confident learning new systems
  • A team player who can also work independently when required
