SERAC Biosciences AG is looking for a Research Associate in vitro and cellular compound profiling in Targeted Protein Degradation, on a fix term contract for 12 months.
Join Ridgeline Discovery’s Basel-based portfolio company Serac Biosciences AG as a motivated Research Associate and become an enthusiastic team player in a fast-paced start-up environment, where you can make a real impact in a vibrant and agile biotech setting.
We are looking to fill a junior position, in which you will perform routine assays to support the development of molecular glues. Ideally, you will bring experience from an R&D environment with small molecule handling in biochemical/biophysical assays. Knowledge and hands‑on experience with mammalian cell culture will be considered a strong plus.
Please note, this position does not require a PhD and candidates holding a PhD will not be considered. Knowledge of GxP is not required.
Key RESPONSIBILITIES- Support both routine research activities and more in-depth profiling studies by performing cell-based and biochemical/biophysical studies to assist with the identification, validation, prioritization and benchmarking of small molecule protein degraders.
- Perform a wide variety of medium- to high-throughput profiling workflows with cell-based and biochemical formats (experience with automation is considered a strong plus)
- Design, conduct, and summarize data for key experiments to progress projects. Troubleshoot and implement solutions when required.
- Maintain thorough documentation and written records of experimental and data in lab notebooks and communicate results in a clear/concise manner in internal meetings.
- Ensure compliance with good laboratory practices including safety regulations, data management, data recording in electronic notebooks and archiving.
- Keen interest in understanding the current literature surrounding TPD and specific targets of interest.
- Relevant laboratory apprenticeship/Bachelor’s (0.5 – 2 years non-academic experience) or relevant Master’s degree (0 – 1 year non-academic experience). PhD-level candidates will not be considered.
- Training in biochemistry/biophysics/biotechnology/cell-biology, ideally experience with small molecule handling and assay development
- Experience with basic techniques related to biochemistry, biophysics and small molecule handling required, e.g. FP, TSA, SPR.
- Experience with basic techniques related to mammalian cell-culture and assays required, e.g. BRET, Western Blot, ELISA, IP.
- Working experience in targeted protein degradation (molecular glue, PROTACs and related) considered a plus.
- Self-motivated, willingness to learn, strong work ethic, attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent communication skills are required for this position.
- Proficiency in utilizing general and specialized software such as Microsoft office, Prism, ELN etc., for data analysis and figure generation.
