The Position

The OpportunityAs a Process Chemist within PTDC-S: DS Clinical & Commercial Supply
, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between innovative chemical research and life‑saving commercial production. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to deliver synthetic molecules to patients globally.
- Drive Process Scale‑up:
Lead the development and scale‑up of laboratory processes to Pilot Plant operations, ensuring the successful production of multi‑kilogram quantities of chemical intermediates and active ingredients - Execute Technical Transfers:
Act as the lead Process Step Chemist for the seamless transfer of manufacturing processes from chemical development to large‑scale chemical production facilities - Ensure Launch Excellence:
Oversee initial launch productions and process validations, playing a key role in the successful filing and regulatory submission of new medicinal products - Uphold Quality & Compliance:
Maintain rigorous cGMP standards and safety regulations, creating all necessary production documentation and risk assessments to ensure the highest ingredient quality - Champion Safety & SHE Standards:
Collect and analyze safety data for comprehensive risk assessments, ensuring strict adherence to Roche’s health, safety, and environmental protection policies - Foster Innovation:
Identify and implement technical innovations and process improvements to modernize plant infrastructure and enhance manufacturing efficiency - Lead Interdisciplinary Projects:
Represent your discipline in international, cross‑functional project teams, managing entrusted projects and providing expert guidance in specialized technology areas - Facilitate Knowledge Management:
Collaborate closely with chemical development and global manufacturing sites to ensure effective knowledge transfer and long‑term sustainability of production processes
We are looking for a dedicated scientist who thrives at the intersection of chemistry and engineering, possessing the technical rigor and collaborative spirit required for complex pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Advanced Scientific Background:
You hold a PhD or Master’s degree in Chemistry, with a strong focus on organic chemistry or a related technical specialization - Proven Industry
Experience:
You bring at least 3–5 years of professional experience in chemical development or production within a pharmaceutical or fine chemical environment - Scale‑up Expert:
You possess solid knowledge of the operational requirements needed to safely transition laboratory processes into large‑scale pilot or commercial operations - Digital & Analytical Proficiency:
You demonstrate expertise in digital technologies, including data analysis software, data mining, and digital tools for process control or modeling - Problem‑Solver & Experimenter:
You have a natural enthusiasm for technology and a proven talent for solving complex process engineering and organizational challenges - Collaborative Communicator:
You are a strong team player with high assertiveness and the ability to influence others in a matrix or line function - Fluent & Compliant:
You possess very good German and English language skills, coupled with a deep understanding of GMP requirements and their practical application in daily operations
