Backend Python Developer

For a globally leading pharmaceutical company based in Basel, we are currently looking for an experienced Backend Python Developer (m/f/d) to join an innovative Data & Digital environment within the Computational Sciences domain.

The position is part of a strategic and award-winning initiative focused on building a scalable and unbiased evaluation platform for scientific target proposals. The project integrates selected open-source multi-agent systems and LLM-based frameworks into a comprehensive ranking solution that supports research and translational medicine teams.

As a Backend Python Developer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing robust backend components within a modern cloud-native architecture.

Your main tasks will include:

• Developing scalable backend services using Python
• Designing and implementing high-performance REST APIs
• Integrating machine learning components and multi-agent frameworks
• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to define technical interfaces
• Deploying and operating services in Kubernetes environments using Git Ops principles
• Enhancing system quality through testing strategies, performance tuning, and tooling

You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Information Systems, or a related field — or bring equivalent professional experience.

Additionally, you bring:

• 5+ years of experience in Python backend development
• Solid hands-on experience in REST API design
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (ideally Git Lab)
• Strong understanding of containerized environments and Kubernetes
• Exposure to ML engineering, ideally within life sciences or data-driven environments
• Knowledge of LLMs or multi-agent frameworks is a strong plus
