Unter the umbrella of UNITED WATERWAYS, the group of companies employs over 4,000 dedicated staff and represents a fleet of over 100 passenger and event vessels on Europe s inland waterways. The wide range of services offered supports our customers in all areas of passenger inland waterways transport: shipping company management, crew management, nautical/technical management, hospitality & catering services, safety & security, ship financing, charter brokerage, insurance management, newbuild & conversion support and ship ICT services.
Yourresponsibilities – Shape the future of River Advice:
- Implementation of a group-wide IT and digitalization strategy in line with the corporate strategy.
- Leadership and further development of an international IT team and establishment of a high-performance, service-oriented IT organization.
- Management of company-wide transformation and modernization projects (cloud migration, application harmonization, project portfolio management, sourcing, cybersecurity, data governance).
- Organize and manage 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level support
- Ensure and measure defined SLAs
- Ticket management and prioritization
- Onboarding/offboarding of employees
- Further development of the IT service organization (internal/external)
- Designing a scalable, secure, and future-oriented IT architecture for locations, fleets, and service units distributed across Europe.
- Responsibility for the operation, further development, and integration of central systems (including ERP, DMS, port and fleet management tools).
- Ensuring high system availability and implementing standards for office and ship IT.
- Introduction of digital solutions to optimize ship service processes (e.g., predictive maintenance, IoT sensors, remote monitoring, AR-supported service operations).
- Promoting data analytics solutions to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making processes.
- Identifying and evaluating new technologies and their potential applications (AI, automation, maritime platforms).
- Establishment and monitoring of a robust cybersecurity framework for IT and OT environments (ISMS).
- Ensuring international compliance requirements
- Risk management and emergency planning (disaster recovery, business continuity).
- Close cooperation with group management, operational units, and technical service partners.
- Control of IT budgets and cost optimization.
- Management of strategic IT suppliers and partners, including contract negotiations.
- University degree (university, university of applied sciences) in computer science, business informatics, engineering, or comparable education.
- At least five years of management experience in an international IT environment, ideally in industry, logistics, or technical services.
- In-depth knowledge of cross-border IT infrastructures, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, ERP platforms, and industrial IoT systems.
- Experience cross-functional digitization and transformation programs.
- Experience in standardizing applications and infrastructure.
- Responsible implementation of at least one strategy development process in a company.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in implementing sourcing strategies.
- Strategic thinker and strong leader with a proven track record.
- Hands-on and pragmatic implementation are a must in this dynamic industry.
- High level of international and intercultural competence; experience in leading virtual teams.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills at management level.
- Innovation-oriented, decisive, and confident in dealing with change.
- Understanding of business metrics, experience in budgeting
- Willingness to travel (10–20%).
- Languages:
German & English (business fluent).
- Leading role in modular white label ship management services.
- Great creative freedom and direct influence on the group s IT strategy.
- Collaboration with international teams and modern technologies.
