Research Scientist
The position
We are inviting applications for a full-time staff researcher in procedural content generation. This position will support MOTH’s long-term vision for procedural content generation with fault-tolerant quantum computers, helping to create algorithms that will bring quantum advantages to the Media and Entertainment industries (including games, graphics and music). They will also collaborate with researchers working on near‑term quantum algorithms to create the first proof‑of‑principle demonstrations of quantum utility in these industries.
The successful candidate will join the MOTH Research team in Basel, Switzerland. They will collaborate with other members of the MOTH team to develop novel and concrete use‑cases for quantum algorithms in procedural content generation. The candidate will bring expertise on the design and use of current procedural generation methods to complement the quantum algorithm expertise at MOTH.
- Perform cutting‑edge research on combining quantum algorithms with PCG.
- Help design novel algorithms for fault‑tolerant quantum computers.
- Help create the software infrastructure required to serve quantum computing to applications in games, graphics and music.
- Present research findings at international conferences and publish results in high‑impact scientific journals.
- A PhD degree (or equivalent) obtained for a thesis related to procedural content generation. Exceptional candidates with a Masters degree will also be considered.
- An excellent track record in both academic study and research projects.
- Strong background in procedural content generation.
- Motivation to find novel applications of quantum computing for use in computer games, music and visual media.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
