Position: Structural Steel Welder - HighLand City, FL (Steel Fabrication)
Hello there,

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Structural Steel Fitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the preparation, fabrication, and installation of structural metal products. The responsibilities encompass a diverse range of tasks, requiring expertise in cutting materials, reading blueprints, and proficiently utilizing various tools and equipment.

Responsibilities:

Prepare Structural Steel Products:

• Get materials ready for welding and riveting
• Cut materials according to specifications using acetylene and oxygen torches

Read Blueprints and Weld Symbols:

• Interpret blueprints, section and plan drawings, and weld symbols
• Experience in reading prints, fitting, and mig flux core welding

Precision Fitting and Layout

• Read and derive measurements, dimensions, and quantities of materials needed for fabrication.
• Utilize tools such as jacks, pry bars, hammers, saws, welding equipment, torches, files, or grinders for precise fitting.

Fabrication and Assembly

• Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel products, including beams, braces, pipes, and plates for offshore drilling jackets and decks.
• Employ tools like Come-a-longs, chain falls, and other industry equipment for installation.

Operational Expertise

• Operate forklifts and overhead hoists to gather materials and remove completed pieces.
• Assist in addressing overhead crane problems during maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma
• 3 - 5 years of fitter work-related experience and/or training
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and schematics
• Accurate measurement and cutting of metal components
• Proficient in welding and other metal fabrication techniques
• Knowledge of safety protocols related to steel fitting
• Must successfully pass a written and/or practical skills test
