Job Summary Registered Nurse 1This position provides basic nursing care in predictable situations to a limited numbers of patients under direct supervision. RN I’s are typically new graduates or returning to the professional after a prolonged absence. Performance is guided by rules and competencies to be met. RN I’s are able to recognize attributes (i.e., isolated traits, objective measures, or tasks) of a clinical situation without situational experience.
With oversight and/or guidance, the RN I’s render individualized nursing care to meet the patient’s physical, psychological, supportive, and rehabilitative nursing care. Care to each patient is based upon the nursing process and in accordance with the hospital’s policy and procedure and CARE values. RN I’s participate in other hospital committees and teams as appropriate.
RN II’s independently plan and implement routine nursing care in using standards and knowledge obtained during education and preceptorship. RN II’s begin to assume leadership responsibility and needs minimal supervision. An RN II has the ability to use accurate, clear, and concise oral and written communication. RN II’s will work as a team and maintain effective working relationships, use critical thinking skills, analyze, and communicate findings effectively.
Incumbents require a basic computer literacy and the ability to effectively learn new software programs is required, as well as the ability to efficiently operate a variety of automated office equipment such as print/copy/scan/fax machines/calculators/etc.

Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license. - Experience:
New graduate RNs or RNs with less than one (1) year current acute care or comparable experience, or RN with no nursing experience in the past five (5) years. New graduates will remain at the RN I level for a minimum of six (6) months after the completion of their preceptee program and must promote to an RN II within 18 months of hire. - Certification(s):

Advancement from an RN I or at least one (1) year, continuous experience in a comparable patient care setting. RNs must remain at this level for a minimum of one year before applying for advancement. - Certification(s):

Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms. External Hires:
Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based upon relevant experience. Registered Nurse 1 starts at $38.90 per hour. Registered Nurse 2 starts at $44.09 per hour. Practice Notices
