The Village of Bartlett is seeking a GIS Coordinator who is passionate about GIS, technically proficient, and dedicated to their work. They should be highly organized and able to take responsibility for advancing the Village’s GIS program.
The GIS Coordinator will lead and manage our Geographic Information System (GIS) infrastructure and provide direct supervision of the GIS Applications Specialist, the GIS Technician, and the GIS Intern. This is a key technical role responsible for maintaining the accuracy of spatial data, developing GIS tools and applications, supporting internal departments, and facilitating strategic decision‑making throughout the organization.
Reporting to the Information Systems Director, the GIS Coordinator will oversee GIS operations, provide training and support, coordinate cross‑departmental GIS initiatives, and act as the primary liaison with external agencies on GIS‑related matters. In addition to managing projects for the GIS division, the GIS Coordinator will lead a team to develop, maintain, and enhance GIS‑based applications; design and build web‑based GIS tools, dashboards, and mobile apps to support decision‑making processes;
and implement and manage integrations between GIS systems and external databases.
The coordinator will assist in creating, maintaining, and updating geospatial datasets and databases for application development; perform complex spatial analyses to identify patterns, trends, and relationships that support departmental projects; and automate repetitive cartographic tasks through GIS scripting. Additionally, the Coordinator will integrate geospatial data from various sources into GIS applications while ensuring the quality, integrity, and consistency of the data.
The role comprises troubleshooting GIS applications, offering technical support to end‑users, and developing user guides, training materials, and documentation.
