** Water Quality Control Specialist II
**** Position Overview
** The Water Quality Control Specialist II performs technical duties insupport of the Water Quality Program which may include performingenvironmental compliance monitoring and inspection duties related topower plant operations, analyzing a variety of chemistry data, and enforcing applicable ordinances and regulations. Assists the Supervisor,Water Quality Control in maintaining all applicable lab certifications,accreditations, and conducting compliance and process quality controlwork. Implements the day-to-day collection and analysis of water qualitysamples.
** Essential job functions include, but are not limitedto:
*** Reviews and interprets chemistry data and instrumentation results.
* Provides analysis, reviews, sampling, and/or trending of data on environmental and operational conditions.
* Assists in the development of programs to evaluate station chemistry, identify problems, and meet regulatory requirements.
* Performs maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting for inline analyzers such as silica, sodium, pH, cation conductivity, ORP, and DO.
* Provides training and technical information to staff.
* Maintains chemistry databases and information.
* May prepare daily reports to management, including graphs of daily chemistry performance.
* Supports chemical-related troubleshooting activities on power plant systems and equipment
* Operates and maintains demineralized makeup equipment such as reverse osmosis, cooling tower systems, and in-line instrumentation throughout the plant.
* Supports chemical cleaning activities when required.
* Drive projects and initiatives to continuously improve the chemistry program.
* Inspects and evaluates boiler waterside internals and condensers during shutdowns.
* Communicates expectations and holds chemical/equipment vendor(s) accountable based off facility needs and requirements.
* Maintains and monitors chemical inventories and orders chemicals and reagents when necessary.
** Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:
*** Experience in Power Plant Boiler Water Chemistry, Demineralized Water Treatment (Clarifiers, Filtration, Reverse Osmosis, and Cooling Tower Chemistry.
* Ability to operate and maintain demineralized makeup equipment such as, reverse osmosis, demineralizers, cooling tower systems, and in-line instrumentation throughout the plant.
* Ability to maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot inline analyzers such as silica, sodium, pH, ORP, cation conductivity, and DO.
* Ability to review and interpret chemistry data and instrumentation results.
* Safe working practices and procedures.
* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
** Education, Training,
Experience:
*** Minimum bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience in a water/wastewater laboratory environment or equivalent.
** Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:
*** Valid driver’s license
* Level D Wastewater Certification and Level C Lab Certification from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, Water Quality Division. If not in possession, must be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire date.
** Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
*** Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, arc flash rated clothing etc.).
* Work outside in all types of weather conditions.
* May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
