Overview

Barstow Community College is an open-access, comprehensive two-year institution serving a diverse student population in the Mojave region of San Bernardino County, California. The College’s campus is located in Barstow, California, situated in California’s high desert, between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Established in 1959, the Barstow Community College District (BCCD) serves a wide service area from the Nevada border to Kern County, and from Inyo County to the San Bernardino Mountains. It serves the communities of Barstow, Lenwood, Newberry Springs, Daggett, Yermo, Hinkley, Ludlow and Baker. A satellite learning center is maintained at the U.S. Army National Training Center in Ft. Irwin, California, serving military personnel and their families.

This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part-time (up to 67%), substitute, temporary, or hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Part-Time faculty applications remain in the pool for one year. The hiring manager may contact you if the department/division is interested in scheduling an interview. Departments will refer to the pool of applications on file to fill temporary assignments.

This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.

Applications for Part-Time Instructors are always being accepted for assignments at the main campus, for online teaching, and at off-campus sites such as Fort Irwin. Assignments are at the discretion of the District.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Any bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
• Possession of a valid and current State of California Cosmetology License.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desired Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the community college level.
