Rural Surveyor - Exciting Career Opportunity (South Wales)

A highly respected rural consultancy is seeking an ambitious, qualified Surveyor to join its busy South Wales office. This role provides an excellent platform for someone looking to take the next step in their career, offering a diverse workload across all key areas of rural professional practice. You will initially support a senior partner while also having the opportunity to grow your own client portfolio over time.

This long‑term career opportunity will best suit a surveyor with rural practice experience, though applications are also welcomed from general practice surveyors who have a strong rural background or a genuine interest in rural matters.

The Role

You will be involved in a wide variety of rural professional work, including:

  • Valuations of rural and residential property for secured lending, taxation, estate planning and dispute resolution
  • Sales and lettings of rural property including farms, smallholdings and land
  • Compulsory purchase and compensation work
  • Utility company compensation claims
  • Preparation of Farm Business Tenancy Agreements, Grazing Licences and associated legal documents
  • Engagement with renewable energy projects (Wind, Solar, Battery Storage)
  • Rural planning matters
  • Telecoms work
  • Rural subsidies including BPS and the Sustainable Farming Scheme
  • Livestock auctioneering at seasonal sheep sales
About You

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of professional expertise, rural knowledge and strong interpersonal skills. You should have:

  • RICS qualification, ideally with 2+ years' post‑qualification experience
  • CAAV membership or a willingness to work towards it
  • Strong knowledge of RICS Valuation Standards and relevant guidance notes
  • A practical rural background and clear understanding of agricultural practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidence in managing client relationships at a professional level
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a varied workload
  • Strong IT capability
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
