Sessional Adult Tutors – Vale Courses

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and experienced tutors to join our team. We are particularly seeking tutors in the following subject areas:

  • Cookery
  • Modern Foreign Languages
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Crafts (Jewellery making, glass work, wire art, woodwork)

About

The Role

As a sessional adult tutor, you will deliver engaging courses and workshops for adult learners, courses typically run for 10 weeks with additional, half day or one day workshops and taster sessions available.

Sessions usually last for 2-3 hours and can take place during the day, afternoon or evening and some weekends.

Courses will predominantly take place at Old Hall Cowbridge, but our tutors also teach at a range of Adult Education Centres, Schools and Community Venues across the Vale of Glamorgan.

Pay Details: JNC Youth and Community Professional Range Point 14 £ 33,066, £17.19 Per Hour

Hours of Work: Various part time sessions as required. Sessions are typically of 2-3 hours duration and take place mornings afternoons, or evenings. Course duration is Adult Term

About You What we are looking for:
  • Passion for adult learning and community education
  • Subject expertise and the ability to engage and challenge adult learners
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to inclusive learning and equal opportunities.
  • Willingness to undertake further training as required.
  • Confidence in delivering learning using digital technology

Teaching qualifications and experiences in adult education are desirable but not essential, depending on subject area.

EWC Registration Details: It is a statutory requirement that applicants for some of these posts may require registration with the Education Workforce Council before they can start work, this will be discussed  you are not already registered further information including how to register can be found .wales

You will need:
  • A good level of education and demonstrate good literacy and numeracy.
  • A high level of knowledge and experience in your subject area.
  • A relevant teaching qualification or to work towards a teaching qualification.
  • Experience of teaching or training adults (desirable).
  • A relevant Practitioners Qualification (desirable for applicants who wish to teach ESOL or Essential Skills).
  • Understanding of assessment or experience of delivering accredited programmes.
  • Confidence in delivering learning using digital technology.
  • To be able to deliver hybrid learning (face to face and online) where relevant, or be willing to undertake further training.
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to deliver innovative and creative learning which engages and challenges your learners.
  • An understanding of the needs of adult learners and an empathy for vulnerable learners.
  • A willingness to undertake further training as required.
