AboutThe Role
- Fully trained to work with specialised tools and machinery to turn raw materials into construction products.
- Hands‑on day‑to‑day operations: maintain factory machinery, equipment and ensure high levels of health and safety.
- Full training and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
- Carry out essential maintenance work through a programme of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
- Assist in developing the agility maintenance system.
- Attend breakdowns and ensure machine safety standards are upheld.
- Ensure critical spares are maintained.
- Install and maintain electrical & electro‑mechanical plant machinery.
- Improve factory OEE through development and innovation of the production facility.
- Use various testing equipment to locate and remedy faults.
- Promote Lean thinking and actively look for ways to improve efficiencies.
- Actively contribute to the creation and review of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- Ensure adherence to Wienerberger’s quality system & standards in accordance with BSEN ISO 9001.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 6.00 pm to 6.00 am (nights) and Thursday: 6.00 pm to 1.00 am.
About You- Apprentice trained with a minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline (Electrical or Mechanical). Provide copies of relevant qualifications and complete competence assessments.
- ONC/BTEC HNC/BTEC or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical engineering desirable.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally heavy manufacturing, FMCG, Food or Chemical.
- Team player with strong communication skills.
- Good exposure to health & safety standards.
- Excellent analytical, fault finding and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of EHS, electrical control systems, rotating equipment, conveyors, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Sound mechanical knowledge and skills.
- Knowledge of PLCs.
- Passion for improvement with knowledge of Lean manufacturing.
- Up to 25 days holiday + bank holidays (pro‑rated for shift workers).

Salary up to £44,992 (inclusive of allowances/bonuses).
