Overview
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust, Clinical Investigation Unit provides a wide range of invasive and non-invasive services. We have a dedicated Cardiac centre based at Westmorland offering Angiography, pacing and CRT services and an established Dobutamine Stress echo service. We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, to help with non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery, plus local outreach services and diagnostics from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
Here at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust we have an exciting opportunity for an 18 month fixed term full-time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme developed by the National School of Healthcare Science and funded by Health Education England. This will be a Cross Bay post with Furness General Hospital as the Hospital Base.
Successful candidates will be trained to BSE accreditation level 2 and will be awarded a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography. For more information, please see the NSHCS website:

You will be paid trainee salary:
Pay will be Annex U/21:
- Year 1 - 70% of the top of a Band 6
- Year 2 - 75% of the top of a Band 6

This currently only applies to roles Band 6 and above and Medical & Dental posts. Anyone newly appointed to the trust under the Agenda For Change contract will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period. This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
