Here at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust we have an exciting opportunity for an 18 month fixed term full-time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme developed by the National School of Healthcare Science and funded by Health Education England.
This will be a Cross Bay post with Furness General Hospital as the Hospital Base.
Successful candidates will be trained to BSE accreditation level 2 and will be awarded a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography. For more information, please see the NSHCS website:

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust Clinical Investigation Unit provides a wide range of invasive and non-invasive services. We have a dedicated Cardiac centre based at Westmorland offering Angiography, pacing and CRT services and an established Dobutamine Stress echo service.
You will be paid trainee salary:
Pay will be Annex U/21:
o Year 1 - 70% of the top of a Band 6
o Year 2 - 75% of the top of a Band 6

We have a dedicated Cardiac centre based at Westmorland offering Angiography, pacing and CRT services and an established Dobutamine Stress echo service.
About usWe operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

Person Specification Education and qualifications- Clinical Physiology Degree or Relevant scientific subject - examples Engineering, Physics, Ultrasound, Human Biology, Sports Science or equivalent
- Genuine interest in Cardiology
- Basic understanding of Cardiac Diagnostic Tests performed in Clinical Investigation Unit
- Experience in working in a Healthcare Setting
- Understanding NHS policies and procedures
- Familiar with Cardiac Diagnostic Equipment.
- Exposure within a Clinical Investigation Unit setting
