Program used is Creo/Pro-Engineer
Flex will be available as 2 WFH/3 WFO days
As a Mechanical Engineer with a focus on subsea connectors, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance and high-reliable technical solutions for extreme and harsh environments. This role demands a deep understanding of engineering fundamentals and materials science to ensure reliability, safety, and innovation in subsea applications. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver cutting‑edge connector solutions for offshore energy and subsea sectors.
With increased seniority and experience, it is expected to take on more responsibilities, deepen technical expertise, and contribute to mentoring the wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Responsibilities
- Design and develop subsea (Low and High Voltage) electrical and optical connectors, pressure housings, and sealing systems using advanced CAD tools
- Promote standardisation within and across product lines
- Ensure consistency and alignment across and within product lines
- Sustain high quality for our products
- Drive design decisions optimizing both product performance and cost and balance innovation with cost efficiency
- Perform and understand the fundamentals for mechanical, thermal, and pressure simulations using FEA tools to validate designs for high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) subsea environments and/or for deep‑sea environments
- Select materials for HPHT environments, subsea environments with understanding corrosion‑resistant materials and coatings suitable for long‑term subsea deployment
- Specify and integrate subsea electrical connectors into mechanical assemblies, ensuring watertight integrity, pressure resistance, and compatibility with control systems
- Conduct prototype testing, pressure testing, and qualification to industry standards
- Generate detailed technical documentation including Design Specifications, Qualification Test procedures, 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and Test Reports
- Support hardware qualification testing, including Factory Acceptance Test, Site Integration Test, and connector integrity testing
- Provide engineering support during installation, commissioning, and operational phases
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards (API, ISO, IEEE, IEC and all relevant industry standards)
- Review and approve technical documentation including assembly drawings, connector specifications, and interface definitions - Experience and Seniority level dependant
- Understand and analyse subsea mechanical components and systems, including subsea trees, manifolds, jumpers, electrical connectors
- Lead design reviews and PEER reviews
- Lead or support engineering work packages within R&D and customer‑specific projects
- Interface with engineering leadership and project leads to define scope, timelines, and deliverables
- Support procurement and manufacturing with technical specifications and supplier engagement
- Manage design iterations and engineering change processes in PLM systems
- Lead RCAs, FMEA, dFMEA, pFEMA at development and design cycles
- Work with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure DfM and compliance with QA/QC standards
- Participate in design reviews, RCAs.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and FEA tools
- Proficiency in Technical 2D drawings
