Job Title:

Principal Engineer – Civil Engineering

Location:

Salary:  £50,000+ Depending on experience

What you’ll be doing :

Provide support to ensure that all new or modified assets are compliant with relevant Civil and Structural standards for intended use and meet with stakeholder requirements

Conduct onsite surveys of assets/infrastructure and providing technical advice on Civil and Structural issues

Manage  the production of Civil and Structural reports, technical specifications and statement of requirements documents

Review design proposals for both new facilities/infrastructure and for refurbishment projects

Provide support to ensure that nuclear related assets on the Barrow Licensed Site are justified to meet the requirements of the Nuclear Site Licence

Establishing and agreeing stakeholder requirements (and if applicable Nuclear Safety Functional Requirements) for facilities and equipment

Provide advice to other disciplines, maintainers and site committees on technical issues and requirements to meet nuclear, HSE and other relevant legislation

Assist in the project  management  of installations and commissioning of new and modified assets where discipline knowledge is required

Support the development of  individuals  and teams to enhance skills and  competencies , such that technical capability  objectives  are fully achieved

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

A related Civil or Structural Engineering degree or equivalent experience

Prior engineering experience gained within the construction industry

Technical document writing and report building experience

Microsoft office experience

Desirable:

Be registered with an Engineering professional institute – chartered or working towards

Experience with in the production and review of structural calculations gained within the nuclear sector or a consultancy environment

Team  lead  or line  management  experience

The Site Specialist Engineering Civils Team

This is an exciting time to join us in the team and help to play a key part in the focus on the Submarine platforms we manufacture. Our team is made up of a wide variety of skillsets ranging from engineering graduates right up to Principal Engineers. We are supporting across various facilities and infrastructure, site wide, aspects ensuring that our sites are fit for purpose and able to support the fabrication and manufacturing processes.
