Job Title:

Senior Engineer – Pressure Systems

Location:

Salary:  £42,215+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing :

Review design proposals from external contractors and consultants for new and refurbished pressure systems installations to ensure compliance with current legislation, regulations and site standards.

Typical list of pressure systems encountered on site:

-Wet and Superheated Steam Systems

-Industrial process gases, i.e. Argon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Propane  etc

-Natural Gas

-Low and High Pressure Compressed Air systems

-Mains water, Demineralised water

-Hydraulic systems

Provide advice/guidance/recommendations to the wider business on pressure system issues

Preparation of technical reports and documentation to support new pressure system installations on site

Define requirements for pressure systems in conjunction with end users

Support Principal Engineers with the production and update of site engineering standards for pressure systems

Ensure that all new and modified assets are compliant with relevant current standards and meet stakeholder requirements

Assist project teams to review installations and commissioning of new and modified assets where discipline knowledge is required

Your skills and experiences:

HNC/HND qualified in mechanical engineering

Understanding of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) and other British and European standards covering pressure systems

Registered with an engineering professional institute and working towards chartered status

Around 5 to 10 years design or installation experience working with pressure systems

Basic IT skills for working with MS Office software such as Word, Excel and Power Point

Ability to read piped services technical drawings including schematics

The Site Specialist Engineering team:

As Senior Engineer – Pressure systems you will be joining a multi-discipline team comprising suitably qualified and experienced personnel (SQEP) in Electrical, Mechanical and Civil/Structural disciplines. The main purpose of the team is to set site engineering standards and requirements for equipment/systems/facilities in accordance with legislation and process. You will be working under the direction of a Principal Engineer on a varied workload including involvement with a number of new buildings being built as part of the Shipyard expansion.

We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
