Location: Barrow in Furness

Reynco are partnered with a specialist building envelope contractor, operating as principal contractor in delivering a major, high-value project within a highly regulated environment in Barrow-in-Furness. They are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team on a permanent basis.

This is a key project appointment, offering the opportunity to work as part of the on-site leadership team on a significant infrastructure programme. Taking commercial ownership across cost control, commercial governance and subcontractor management throughout the project lifecycle.

This role is ideally suited to a professional QS who holds experience within nuclear, defence or similarly regulated sectors and is comfortable operating within strict regulatory, contractual and safety frameworks.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will play a key role in cost control, risk management and commercial governance, working closely with project leadership, clients and subcontractors to ensure all commercial activity is compliant, auditable and aligned with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Take full commercial responsibility for the project from pre-construction through delivery and final account.

* Administer and manage NEC contracts, including subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and compensation events.

* Produce accurate commercial reporting, forecasting, and cost control including carrying out CVR’s.

* Maintain high standards of commercial governance, documentation and reporting in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.

* Manage and control subcontractor commercial performance across multiple work packages.

* Support client-facing commercial discussions in a highly regulated environment, ensuring all commercial activity is auditable and compliant.

* Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment between programme, cost, risk and quality.

* Provide guidance and mentoring to junior commercial team members where required.

Individual Requirements

* Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on major construction or infrastructure projects.

* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or equivalent experience.

* Security clearance or the ability to obtain clearance is essential.

* Confident in handling frameworks, straightforward contract administration as well as managing complex subcontractor supply chains and multiple work packages.

* Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (JCT experience beneficial but not essential).

* Background working in regulated or security-sensitive environments (defence, nuclear, infrastructure or similar).

* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage risk, change and cost control effectively.

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

* Knowledge of CEMAR NEC contract management and reporting tool would be beneficial

* Professional accreditation (RICS or working towards) would be desirable.
