Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka is a non‑profit cancer support community that provides free social and emotional support to individuals and families impacted by cancer. Rooted in compassion and connection, we offer programs, resources, and events that help people build community, find strength, and share hope during one of life’s most challenging experiences.

Position Overview

Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka is seeking a skilled and compassionate professional to join our team in a unique, two‑phase position. The successful candidate will begin in a three‑month full‑time contract as Program Manager, providing essential coverage during a temporary leave. Following this period, the role will transition into a permanent Clinical Manager position, assuming full clinical leadership responsibilities within our Program Team.

This structure ensures continuity of care for our members while providing a meaningful onboarding period for the successful candidate to become familiar with our culture, programming, and Cancer Support Community (CSC) standards.

Phase 1:
Program Manager (Three Month Contract)

During the initial contract period, the Program Manager will:

  • Support day to day program operations.
  • Assist with scheduling, program coordination, and member communication.
  • Provide group facilitation and member support within scope of practice.
  • Ensure continuity of programming during the leave period.
  • Collaborate closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners.

This phase focuses on operational leadership and program continuity while allowing the successful candidate to integrate into the organization before assuming full clinical oversight.

Phase 2:
Clinical Manager (Permanent Role)

Upon completion of the three month contract, the position transitions into the Clinical Manager, a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality clinical support services at Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka.

Core Responsibilities Clinical Oversight & Program Leadership
  • Provide clinical supervision, guidance, and mentorship to clinical staff, interns, and placement students.
  • Ensure all clinical services align with Gilda’s Club’s mission, philosophy, and CSC program standards.
  • Oversee clinical risk management, including crisis response, safety planning, and escalation protocols.
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programming.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical practice in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in CSC training programs and ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to ensure seamless integration of clinical services.
Direct Member Support
  • Provide individual, family, and group counselling to members impacted by cancer.
  • Facilitate support groups, New Member Meetings, and clinical programming.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized support plans.
  • Exercise sound judgment in emergency situations and crisis support.
  • Serve as a clinical point of contact for members and families.
Workshop Development & Delivery
  • Develop and deliver the When Cancer Enters the Workplace workshop to community partners.
  • Create additional psycho educational workshops and resources based on emerging needs.
  • Represent Gilda’s Club in professional and community settings.
Student & Staff Development
  • Recruit, screen, and onboard clinical placement students.
  • Provide structured supervision, evaluation, and ongoing feedback.
  • Support clinical staff through coaching, case consultation, and professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive, and learning focused environment.
Administration & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy legislation, ethical guidelines, and CSC ADAPT requirements.
  • Contribute to program reporting, quality improvement, and outcome measurement.
  • Participate in budget planning related to clinical services.
  • Support organizational initiatives, events, and community partnerships.
Qualifications
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) required.
  • Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience (psychosocial oncology, mental health, or related field preferred).
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to staff or students.
  • Experience facilitating support groups and psycho educational workshops.
  • Experience in a nonprofit or community based environment is an asset.
