Cedar Heights is seeking caring, enthusiastic, energetic, and professional individuals to work with children, adolescents, and adults within our homes located in Mono, Orangeville, Tottenham, Markham, Richmond Hill, and Stayner. Cedar Heights specializes in working with complex care clients diagnosed with neurodivergence, such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Direct Support Professionals provide individuals with high levels of support and supervision in all areas of daily living including; education, behaviour supports, community involvement and recreation.
The position requires that the candidate be available to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
On-site/Off-site training is provided. Also made available to all employees are opportunities to participate in various workshops to further develop skills and knowledge on how to better support our clients.

Pay:
- $23.00- $26.00 per hour (inclusive of the government wage enhancement) to start.
Languages:
- Verbal and Written Communication in English is required.
- Proficiency in other languages is considered an asset.

Required Education:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (completed or in progress), Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Child and Youth Worker/ Child and Youth Care, Disability Support Worker or other related fields.
Conditions of Employment:
- Verification of Educational Requirements.
- Obtain a Broad Record Check (current within 6 months).
- Complete an Employee Medical Test with Hep B, and a 2-part TB test.
- Provide proof of Immunization record.
- Consent to CAS SAFE records check.
- Possess $1,000,000 Liability Automobile Insurance.
- Possess a Valid G Driver's License.
- Have access to a vehicle at work.
- Experience is encouraged but not required if related education is complete.

- Experience with implementing behavioural interventions and programming.
- Experience in Trauma-Informed Care.
- Experience managing and responding to crisis situations.
- Experience in medication administration.
- Cooking and cleaning skills.
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to set priorities to manage time within deadlines.
- Ability to follow directions and work as a member of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Direct Support Professional provides on-site, client-centered programming. Staff are responsible for assisting the residents in the participation of Life Skills Training, Personal and Self-Help Training, Arts & Crafts, Recreation and Leisure, as well as Educational Programs in various subject areas, all with the goal of promoting self-efficacy, autonomy and self-esteem for the residents. Community integration is also a focus of the program.
