The Simcoe County Planning Department is seeking four (4) individuals to collect datafrom local business and industries, conduct data analysis, policy review, and report writing to assist in completing the Simcoe County Employment Survey and special projects within the Department. Employees will be deployed in pairs throughout the County to conduct in-person data collection in the form of a digital survey, inform/explain the Study to public constituents,and assist individuals in completing the Study.
This position will require a large amount of outdoor work with varying weather conditions.
In this role, individuals can expect to interact with a variety of private businesses,government entities, and non-government agencies to collect information on employment trends and land use requirements throughout the County. Individuals will perform their duties outdoors as well as in office at the County of Simcoe Administration Office. Individuals will be expected to work as a team within the Planning Department to complete assigned tasks for special projects, planning policy review, data analysis,research and report writing.
The Planning Department is seeking individuals who are familiar with the County of Simcoe, who are self starting and motivated individuals, have excellent interpersonaland communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and positively with variouslevels of staff, senior leadership, government officials, and members of the public.
This role will report to the Planning Program Supervisor, Innovation & Accelerationwithin the Planning Department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Conducting data collection throughout the County of Simcoe both in person and electronically.
- Assisting with data entry, synthesis, verification, and analysis.
- Drive and/or walk through employment areas, downtown areas, and/or businessparks to administer and deliver an Employment Survey to local industries and businesses.
- Promote and educate members of the public regarding County projects.
- Research, analysis, and report writing.
- Communicating in person, over the phone, and electronically both with Countyinternal staff and public constituents.
- Troubleshoot and aid individuals with technology to provide survey responses.
- Collaborate with multiple internal departments and professionals on a daily basis toreport on daily activities, reporting on any weaknesses or gaps in data collection and provide insights into next steps.
- Provide support to both the Planning Department and Economic Development officeas required.
- Comply with provincial and county occupational health and safety legislation,regulations, policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Must be a registered full-time post-secondary student during the preceding academicyear and be returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
- Enrolled in an under-graduate or graduate level post-secondary program related toland use planning, economic development, geography, business, political science, orrelated field.
- Able to walk long distances in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to read maps and follow directions.
- General computer proficiency (on MS based systems).
- Varied office experiences an asset.
- Must have a valid Class "G" Driver's License.
- Criminal Records Check with that is less than six (6) months old at time of hire required
