Our Proudly Canadian Owned Manufacturing client is looking to hire a Senior Financial Analyst – Costing on an 18-month contract. With a strong reputation in their industry, this is a great opportunity to demonstrate your costing and analytical skills and build on your career.
The Senior Financial Analyst, Costing plays a critical role within the Finance team, reporting to the Manager of Finance, Operations. This position provides financial and analytical support across plant operations, SKU- and item-level BoM costing, inventory management, and capital asset planning. The analyst partners closely with Operations, R&D, IT, and Supply Chain teams to deliver insight-driven analytics, ensure accurate cost structures, support new product launches, and develop reporting that drives strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Perform detailed SKU- and item-level cost analysis across all manufacturing sites to ensure accurate and transparent product costing.
- Monitor and analyze cost variances, absorption, production throughput, and overall plant performance, providing actionable insights to operations leadership.
- Support BOM and routing validation, ensuring costing accuracy for both new and existing products.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support costing for new product launches, including stage-gate analysis and cost-benefit evaluations.
- Contribute to month-end close by preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L analysis related to COGS.
- Maintain accurate capital asset records, including additions, disposals, and depreciation, while supporting forecasting and reporting requirements.
Successful candidates bring the following to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, or Finance.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- CPA designation (or working toward completion) strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with solid skills in PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred); familiarity with Power BI or other business intelligence tools considered an asset.
