Inthis role, you will:
- Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and the YMCA in Canada.
- Demonstrate strong support and commitment to serving the membership, facility users and all program participants of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.
- Teaching and coaching a variety of YMCA child, youth and family programs, including advanced leadership courses.
- Monitor programs for quality, consistency, retention and overall effectiveness. Ensure all safety, program instruction best practices and procedures are adhered to.
- Organize and implement lesson plans, progress reports and evaluations.
- Flexible work week including days, evenings, weekends and occasional holiday hours.
- Maintain records as needed, including audits, behaviour grids, sign in sheets, program area maintenance items and daily checklists.
- Work alongside Program Manager and Centre Manager to communicate needs of aquatics department to ensure high quality programming.
- Provide administrative support for staff scheduling, training and supervision.
- Maintain current qualifications as required by this position.
- Adhere to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description.
- Follow all YMCA standards and best practices, protocols and regulations as defined by the association, the Health Department, and other governing bodies.
- Maintain a high level of retention among qualified, high performing aquatics staff and volunteers through ongoing role modeling, coaching and mentoring.
- Ensure a front line presence during day, evening and weekend hours as required by YMCA programs and services. Interact with members and participants on a regular basis in order to maintain accessibility and foster relationships.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR Certification ‘C’
- Current National Lifeguard – Pool
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of Ontario Public Pool Regulations
- Lifesaving instructor certification preferred
- Advanced lifesaving instructor/examiner certifications preferred
- Clear Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Willingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after commencement of work including:
- AODA Training
- Health & Safety Awareness Training
- Bill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) Training
- PCI Compliance
- WHMIS
- Child Protection Training
