Modular Precast Systems is a business in Bradford West Gwillimbury, ON, that manufactures and installs both structural and architectural precast. Our state-of-the-art facility produces product for Eastern Canada and the Northeast US market. Our goal is to provide the highest quality precast construction components for our clients.
JOB TITLE: Construction/Manufacturing Accounts Controller
JOB TYPE: Full-time, Permanent
SALARY: $100,000 / annum (subject to experience)

LOCATION: In-Person, Bradford West Gwillimbury (first 3 months training will be in Bolton, ON)
The Construction Accounting Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations related to construction projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strong internal controls. This role plays a critical part in project cost management, contract accounting, and supporting leadership with timely financial insights.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all accounting functions including job cost accounting, general ledger, AP/AR, Payroll, and financial reporting
- Manage construction-specific accounting processes:
Percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, Job costing and cost-to-complete forecasting - Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Monitor project budgets, identify cost variances, and work with project managers to address issues proactively
- Oversee billing processes, including progress billings, lien waivers, and retainage
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, contractual requirements, etc.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and banking relationships
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff; ensure accuracy and efficiency of daily operations
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel as needed
- Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
- Support executive leadership with financial analysis and strategic recommendations
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in construction accounting
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction contracts
- Proficiency with construction accounting software (Jonas or similar)
- Familiarity with bonding, insurance reporting, and union payroll (if applicable)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with general contractors, subcontractors, or developers
- Knowledge of multi-entity or multi-project environments is a plus
