About The Role

SEA is going through an exciting period of expansion, as we continue to deliver cutting edge defence engineering technology to a wide range of customers. Right now we’re looking for dedicated, dependable people to join our production teams as we grow our facility and increase activity on some varied and interesting projects.

Assembly Technician will be based at our Barnstaple site. This role does require being onsite 5 days a week.

The salary for this role is up to £28k, depending on experience.

Whatyou’llbedoing
  • Working in a multi-skilled production team you will be responsible for providing assembly and machining support to Production and Engineering teams. Working closely with the Wiring Technicians, Test Technicians and Engineers to make sure our products are delivered to customers on time and with the highest quality standards
  • Training support for company apprentices to gain experience with machine tools, developing the individuals’ skills, promoting shop H&S and instilling good housekeeping culture

    You don’t need to have any prior experience of engineering – we’ll provide full training. What we do ask for is an open mind to learn new skills in a manufacturing environment, and a positive attitude toward delivering results.

    • Perhaps you’ve done practical, hands‑on work as part of a hobby, or a subject at school? Maybe you’ve always been interested in how things work in a factory environment? Fine motor skills, hand‑eye coordination, and good communication skills are necessary, but apart from that, if you’re keen to learn (and earn as you go!) we’d love to hear from you.
    • You will be able to follow these instructions to create a full assembly using a mix of electrical and mechanical assembly skills
    • Fine motor skills and hand‑eye coordination are necessary for handling small parts and performing precise tasks.
    • Communication:
      Effectively communicating with colleagues, supervisors, and other team members
    • Problem‑Solving:
      Analysing issues and developing solutions to keep the assembly process running smoothly
    • Have good practical skills, where attention to detail is essential, requiring the minimum levels of supervision
