The Senior Medical Secretary provides comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to 10 Respiratory Consultants, Registrars and Specialist Nurses, ensuring the efficient delivery of over 20 clinics each week. The postholder is responsible for managing and issuing clinic letters, proof-reading and ensuring accuracy in line with the Trust's 10 day turnaround standard (particularly prevalent with the 62 day cancer targets). Duties include producing and sending after visit summaries, checking all clinic outcomes and diagnostic orders on EPIC and managing incoming correspondence for the Lung CNS's.

As the Band 4, this senior role co-ordinates the bi-weekly Respiratory X-ray meetings, collating all relevant patient information for discussion. The postholder manages the departmental phoneline during core hours, processes clinic cancellations in a timely manner and books pleural aspirations on Snapboard, ensuring anticoagulation status' are checked and managed appropriately. They also arrange ad-hoc meetings, liaise with other Trusts for clinical information, complete and send IPT forms for Lung MDT referrals to Derriford, raise IT tickets as requiredоро and maintain the departmental Medi Rota.

In addition, the postholder provides day to day guidance to the Band 3 medical secretary, supporting workload prioritisation and departmental efficiency. They also provide admin support to the Respiratory Nursing Team during periods of absence and assist with clinic prep to confirm all required investigations are completed, contribute to the development and administration of the PIFU questionnaire and undertake data quality and governance tasks, including EPIC tidy up, inbasket management (in line with governance rules) and work queue monitoring to identify duplicate or  orders.

Working Pattern:Tuesday to Friday agon 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm
