Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Consultant in Acute Paediatrics to join its acute paediatrics department at North Devon District Hospital (NDDH). The role offers cross‑site working at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, subspecialty development, and opportunities for teaching and research in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School.

Main duties
  • Provide specialist paediatric emergency and acute care within the district hospital setting.
  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team in developing clinical protocols and service improvement projects.
  • Engage in subspecialty teaching, research, and clinical governance activities.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical audit.
Person specification
  • Qualified consultant paediatrician with at least 2 years’ clinical experience in paediatric emergency and acute care.
  • Evidence of strong clinical leadership and a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Full NHS electronic prescribing and digitised record competencies acceptable.
