Deputy Manager – Residential Children’s Home

SW Education & Care is inviting applications for a Deputy Manager to join our residential children’s home team near Barnstaple, Devon. We are committed to empowering every child to thrive, providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for young people who have experienced trauma.

The Role

As a Deputy Manager you will play a crucial role in supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, acting as a mentor, role model, and emotional support. You will aid the Manager in ensuring the well‑being and development of all residents and staff. Your duties will include:

  • Managing staff teams and budgets.
  • Providing a stable, caring, and therapeutic environment.
  • Safeguarding children and young people.
  • Collaborating with external stakeholders and professionals.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • On‑call duties on a rota basis, paid on top of salary.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in challenging behaviour or SEMHD settings.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
  • Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong understanding of Children’s Homes regulations.
  • Ability to assess and manage risk effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Honest, reflective, trustworthy, with a dynamic personality.
Important Information
