Recreation - Sessional Youth Worker

Barnsley Youth Zone is dedicated to young people and makes a bold statement about the importance of giving young people high quality places to go in their leisure time. Open 7 days a week including school holidays, the Youth Zone’s purpose is to help young people grow to be happy, healthy and successful adults. The state‑of‑the‑art £10 million building provides young people with facilities that are second to none delivering over twenty sporting, artistic, cultural and general recreational activities each session.

Offering young people the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain support from friendly, warm and positive staff and volunteers.

We’re looking for Sessional Youth Workers – Recreation to help bring our Recreation area to life at Base
71 Youth Zone. As the beating heart of the Youth Zone, it’s a space where no two days are the same – from pool tournaments and quizzes to health debates, games, and projects. You’ll create a safe, welcoming environment where young people aged 8–19 (or up to 25 with SEND) can relax, get involved, and have their voices heard.

You’ll need experience working with young people and the energy, creativity, and positivity to engage and support them in trying new things. Just as importantly, you’ll bring the ability to build positive relationships with young people from all backgrounds, while promoting equality, inclusion, and wellbeing. Knowledge of safeguarding, inclusion, and health & safety is also essential, with training provided.

• Tuesday – 15:45 to 21:15 (Must be over 21)
• Wednesday – 18:45 to 21:15 (Must be over 21)
• Thursday – 15:45 to 20:15 (Must be over 18)
• Friday – 15:45 to 21:15 (Must be over 21)
• Saturday – 09:45 to 14:15 (Must be over 18)
• 14:45 to 20:15 (Must be over 21)
• Sunday – 09:45 to 14:15 (Must be over 21)
