Overview

Steel Fabrication / Installation – Location – Barnsley (National travel for site-based works). A fantastic opportunity to join an established in-house fabrication and installation team, contributing to a growing workload and playing a key role in the erection and installation of steel structures across the UK.

As a Steel Erector within the Amco Giffen Fabrication team, you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient installation of steel structures on sites across the UK.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Erecting and installing steelwork for bridges, structures, and mechanical assemblies
• Working from detailed drawings and installation plans
• Ensuring all site resources—labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors—are effectively coordinated
• Supporting site supervision to maintain safe systems of work and high-quality installation standards
• Carrying out bridge repairs, new bridge installations, and mechanical steelwork installations
• Working collaboratively with fabrication teams to ensure seamless delivery from workshop to site

This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring national travel and occasional night or weekend work.

• Proven experience in steel erection or steel fabrication
• Experience installing steelwork and steel structures on site
• A recognised trade qualification in steel erection or fabrication
• CSCS Site Manager / Site Supervisor card
• PTS (Personal Track Safety)
• Experience working on railway structures
• Full UK driving License
