Join Our Team as a Driver’s Mate Volunteer!

Barnsley Hospice is looking for enthusiastic and compassionate volunteers to join our team and support the vital work we do across our services. Our volunteers play an essential role in helping us provide specialist care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. By giving your time, skills and enthusiasm, you will help us continue delivering care that truly matters.

• As a volunteer, you may support the hospice in a variety of ways depending on the role. This could include:
• Assisting the Retail Hub driver with furniture deliveries and collection
• Unloading the Retail Van at destination of delivery
• Assisting with quality, suitability and health and safety checks on donated stock
• Assisting with load up of stock for delivery onto Retail v
• Movement of stock into loading and dispatch of furniture donations
• Movement of stock around the shop floor / warehouse floor space
• General warehouse duties (packing textiles for recycling, weighing cages of bulk stock, packing waste) between stock deliveries
• General housekeeping when handling donated items / sold items

Please note: all applicants must be over 18 to volunteer at the hospice and retail hub.

This vacancy will be left open until we recruit sufficient volunteers for the role.

Barnsley Hospice is a charity that provides specialist palliative and end of life care to hundreds of local people and those close to them each year. Our main priority is to achieve the best possible quality of life for people living with a life-limiting illness, whilst supporting those close to them during the period of illness and bereavement. As a specialist care provider, the range of skills we offer include, pain and symptom management, emotional support and end of life care.

The hospice currently employs about 100 people and has a team of volunteers, based both at the hospice and within our retail hub.
