Days Mon-Thurs 06:00 - 16:30 including a 30 minute unpaid dinner break and a 15 minute paid tea break

Afters Mon-Thurs 12:00 - 22:30 including a 30 minute unpaid dinner break and a 15 minute paid tea break (overtime or time in lieu)

Salary: £30,140 per year

We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Inspector to join the quality team at a busy manufacturing facility in Barnsley. Our client specialises in producing products for industries including mining, marine, construction, and nuclear applications. As an Inspector, you will play a key role in supporting both the Quality and Production departments. You will carry out chemical analysis tests, dimensional “first off” checks, patrol and final inspections of lead-based components, and produce accurate reports for internal and customer use.

• Conduct internal chemical analysis of melts, verify results against specifications, and generate 3.1 material certificates
• Perform dimensional inspections using tools such as micrometres, digital calipers, protractors, radius gauges, and rules
• Record inspection results, maintain accurate documentation, and generate reports

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to understand part requirements

• Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated and in good working order

• Identify and report quality issues, document non-conforming parts, and assist in root cause analysis when required

• Follow internal safety procedures, maintain a safe work environment, and report near-miss incidents

• Support initiatives to enhance inspection processes and product quality

• GCSEs in Maths and Science (or equivalent)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Competent in manual measurement techniques
• Knowledge of non-conformance reporting and calibration procedures is advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting skills
• Effective written and verbal communication
