Inspector – Quality Team (Manufacturing)

Hours:

40 per week
Days Mon-Thurs 06:00 – 16:30 including a 30 minute unpaid dinner break and a 15 minute paid tea break
Afters Mon-Thurs 12:00 – 22:30 including a 30 minute unpaid dinner break and a 15 minute paid tea break

Salary: £30,140 per year

We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Inspector to join the quality team at a busy manufacturing facility in Barnsley. Our client specialises in producing products for industries including mining, marine, construction, and nuclear applications.
As an Inspector, you will play a key role in supporting both the Quality and Production departments. You will carry out chemical analysis tests, dimensional “first off” checks, patrol and final inspections of lead-based components, and produce accurate reports for internal and customer use. Key Responsibilities:

Inspection and Reporting

* Conduct internal chemical analysis of melts, verify results against specifications, and generate 3.1 material certificates

* Perform dimensional inspections using tools such as micrometres, digital calipers, protractors, radius gauges, and rules

* Record inspection results, maintain accurate documentation, and generate reports
Drawing Interpretation

* Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to understand part requirements
Equipment Calibration

* Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated and in good working order
Non-Conformance Handling

* Identify and report quality issues, document non-conforming parts, and assist in root cause analysis when required
Safety & Compliance

* Follow internal safety procedures, maintain a safe work environment, and report near-miss incidents
Continuous Improvement

* Support initiatives to enhance inspection processes and product quality
Required

Qualifications & Skills:

* GCSEs in Maths and Science (or equivalent)

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

* Competent in manual measurement techniques

* Knowledge of non-conformance reporting and calibration procedures is advantageous

* Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting skills

* Effective written and verbal communication
