Job Description & How to Apply Below
Company Overview
The client is a well-established manufacturing facility with over 50 years of experience, operating as a leading provider of site welfare units, portable cabins, and specialist trailers. We are at the forefront of sustainable innovation in the sector and are continuing to grow our operations. We are now seeking a Welder Fabricator to join our production team on a long-term basis, playing a key role in building high-quality trailer chassis as we expand and optimise our manufacturing processes.
About the Role
As a Welder Fabricator, you will be responsible for the precise fabrication and welding of steel trailer chassis and related structural components. This is a hands-on production role in a busy manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on delivering work to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to fabricate trailer chassis accurately.
Performing MIG welding (and other techniques as required) on mild steel and structural components to produce strong, durable chassis frames.
Cutting, grinding, measuring, and assembling metal sections using power tools and fabrication equipment.
Ensuring all work meets quality standards so that chassis move seamlessly to the next stage of production without rework or repairs.
Maintaining strict adherence to Health & Safety procedures and safe use of all welding and fabrication equipment.
Keeping a clean and organised workstation (good housekeeping standards).
Collaborating closely with team leaders and colleagues to achieve daily production targets and quotas.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a Welder Fabricator, ideally in structural steelwork, trailers, commercial vehicles, chassis, or heavy fabrication.
Strong welding skills (MIG essential; TIG or other processes advantageous).
Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Good practical experience with fabrication tools (angle grinders, measuring equipment, etc.).
A solid work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to maintain focus in a production setting.
Commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ in Welding/Fabrication) are highly desirable but not essential—experience is key.
