Lodestone Recruitment is currently working with a well-established engineering company based in Barnsley, who is currently seeking an experienced Yard Operative to join their team.

The Role:

As a Yard Operative you will be responsible for

Ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of deliveries, whilst maintaining a high standard of safety at all times.

Managing the receipt and dispatch of materials, including verification of delivery documents and organising products in accordance with operational requirements.

Attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety are essential, as the role involves regular manual handing and the operation of plant machinery in a busy outdoor environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Loading and unloading lorries using Overhead Crane, Forklift, or Side Loader.

Picking steel sections and plates for machines.

Read and understand delivery and order notes.

Loading, unloading, and stacking or steel onto Shotblast Machines.

Adhere to onsite Health and Safety Regulations.

About You:

Experience with steel and a background of heavy machinery and plant are desirable but not essential.

Full training will be given, but preferred qualifications would consist of Overhead Crane, Forklift Truck, Side Loader, and loading experience.

Basic understanding of steel processing, beams, plates, flats and angles.

Hours:

Monday - Thursday 8:30am to 4:30pm

Friday 8:30 to 4pm

Salary:

£24,000 - £25,000 per annum
