Berneslai Homes is seeking a dynamic Head of Housing Management toোপ joins our Senior Management Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and operational excellence of our estate services.
At Berneslai Homes we’re responsible for managing around 18,000 homes on behalf of Barnsley Council. We support tenants and work together to create thriving communities. We’re extremely proud that Barnsley Council, in partnership with Berneslai Homes, became the first local authority partnership in the UK to receive a top‑tier C1 grading from the Regulator of Social Housing.
About the roleAs Head of Housing Management, you’ll lead a diverse portfolio of services including housing and tenancy management, income and leaseholder services, community buildings, and specialist support initiatives. You’ll be responsible for driving transformational change, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and embedding a culture of prevention and early intervention across all service areas.
This is a high‑impact role where you will:
- Lead strategically
:
Develop and deliver innovative strategies aligned with our Strategic Plan. - Champion safeguarding
:
Act as the company’s Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable customers. - Drive performance
:
Manage a £5.8m budget and lead a team of 140 professionals to deliver exceptional services. - Influence partnerships
:
Represent Berneslai Homes at key strategic boards and partnerships, shaping policy and practice at local and regional levels. - Innovate for impact
:
Introduce new ways of working, secure external funding, and deliver initiativesודי that make a real difference to our tenants and communities.
We need an inspirational leader who:
- Holds a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Has extensive knowledge of housing law, safeguarding legislation and regulatory compliance.
- Brings proven experience in strategic leadership within a complex public sector environment.
- Demonstrates resilience, adaptability, and a track record of delivering transformational change.
