An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Support Worker to join our team within the theatre complex. The Post-operative care unit is a very busy, ever evolving unit. The department runs a 7-day service and is responsible for the recovery of all patients following surgery including maternity, trauma and emergency services.
Main duties of the jobYou will be part of the multi-disciplinary team delivering compassionate personal care, recognising and meeting the specific needs of the patient. You will be expected to work alongside the registered nurses to meet the demands of multiple theatre lists. Escorting and supporting patients throughout their journey to and from theatre. You will be supported in your continuous professional development and clinical skills, by the senior nursing team, Lead Nurse and Clinical nurse educator, by undertaking training and assessment.

Person Specification Experience- Previous experience working and communicating with the public.
- Previous experience of working in an acute healthcare setting
- Functional skills in literacy and numeracy
- The Care Certificate or working towards
- Educated to GCSE Standard C or above (English and Maths)
- In around 100 words please describe what Equality & Diversity means to you and why they are important.
- An understanding of the role of a Support Worker
- An awareness of what is important to a patient
- Knowledge of the theatre setting and workload
- Able to communicate well with patients and other members of staff
- Understanding of how to work as part of a team
- Have the courage to challenge & question appropriately
