Weare currently looking for an enthusiastic and flexible person to join our Theatre Reception team at Barnsley Hospital.
Therole of Theatre Receptionist requires good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally at all times with the multi-disciplinary teams and visitors to the department, both in person and on the telephone.
The Theatre Receptionist will be an individual that communicates clearly, iswilling to learn at pace and adapt the demands as required by the role and department.

Barnsley Hospital theatres in a timely manner. This is a great opportunity for development.
Thisrole is also a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studyingfor NVQ level 2/3. Apprentices should note that the salary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75% max of band) until they have completedtheirapprenticeship.
Main duties of the jobToprovide the first point of contact for operating theatres, presenting aprofessional, calm and confident manner in line with the Trust's Values and Behaviours.
Toprovide a full reception service to operating theatres.
Maintaining accurate information and patient demographics within the Trusts Bluespiertheatre system.
Knowledge,skills and experience:
Good keyboard ITskills with the ability to accurately input data
Good organisational/time management skills with the ability to demonstrate initiative when balancing work demands
Ability to work in apressurised working environment with frequent interruptions
Good communication skills
Accurate documentpresentation and attention to detail
Calm and confidentunder pressure
Polite and professional manner
Ability to work withpotentially distressing and or emotional information

- GCSE Math & English (A-C) or equivalent.
- RSA / OCR II Typing and / or word processing or equivalent.
- It is important to note that service areas will have additional skill requirements which are subject to additional training and competency based assessments.
- Clerical experience.
- Typing experience.
- Experience of dealing with the general public.
- Previous hospital experience
- IT Systems particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Knowledge of NHS procedures.
- Understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection Act.
- Awareness of Health and Safety requirements.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of NHS procedures
- Identify medical terminology aquired through experience.
